Tamara here, creator of Berlin Boss Babes. I’m lying in bed, typing away on my laptop, excited to share our first blog post everrr on Medium. There’s SO much I want to talk to you about (yes you lady)! But where to start? How about today I tell you about how Berlin Boss Babes came to life.
On a hot summer day in July 2020, I escaped Berlin to visit my mom in Warsaw for a few days. I wanted to get some headspace and perspective on my career. One thing that was bugging me at the time was that apart from a few girlfriends and a few cool women far far away that I followed and admired on Insta, I didn’t really have any relatable and inspirational female role models in my life! How was that even possible? I wanted to talk career stuff with all kinds of women, hear their stories, share experiences, learn from each other and offer support. I was craving a safe yet fun space to make genuine connections with real women outside my friend circle, women with diverse jobs and backgrounds, and having values such as curiosity, ambition and passion in common.
So on a hunch I quickly created a Facebook group which basically blew up in my face, growing to +2k members within a few months. Berlin Boss Babes was born!
The group quickly showed what Berlin-based female professionals were missing: a dedicated space that’s both an inclusive, authentic, and empowering online community, as well as a platform that offers local and women-focused resources and training.
Today, in March 2021, I’m proud to say that the Berlin Boss Babes team has become bigger than just a one-woman-show, it’s a small group of collaborators across professions such as writers, researchers, personal development and business coaches.
Together we’re on a mission to make BBB the go-to career site built exclusively for women in Berlin.
We believe that job searches, career development, and professional discovery are deeply personal but that every woman, no matter her age, her cultural background, her job or business, needs a supportive community and straightforward guidance to not only thrive at what she does but also have fun in the process.
We want to help women cultivate successful careers through community, expert advice, workshops, resources, mentoring, and coaching. Everything we do comes straight from real and relatable Berlin Boss Babes, so that our users can learn from all kinds of experiences and journeys — no fulfilling career has ever come from a cookie cutter approach.
We’ve done our first workshop (on financial planning and investment, so thrilling!), had two meetups (one in a Biergarten — do you remember these joyful times before lockdown 2.0?), ran several Q&As on job hunting and career progression, and advised and coached dozens of women around their careers. And this is only the beginning.
Now the fact that you’re here, that you’re reading this, that you might already be part of the community, and maybe even have been to one of our events, literally means THE WORLD to me.
